DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Discontinued — Upgrade to Matrice 4E and 4T

The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise series — including the M3E, M3T (Thermal), and M3M (Multispectral) — has been one of the most popular compact enterprise drones in Australia. From construction site mapping to building inspections, the M3E brought enterprise-grade capability to a portable, affordable platform.

DJI has now replaced the Mavic 3 Enterprise series with the Matrice 4E and Matrice 4T, marking the end of the Mavic 3 Enterprise product line. Here's what you need to know.

Why Did DJI Discontinue the Mavic 3 Enterprise?

DJI is consolidating its enterprise drone lineup under the "Matrice" brand. The Matrice 4E and 4T aren't just rebadged Mavic 3s — they're ground-up improvements with better sensors, weather protection, and connectivity. The move also aligns the compact drones with the larger Matrice 400 flagship, creating a unified enterprise product family.

What Replaces What?

Discontinued Model Replacement Key Improvement
Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) Matrice 4E IP55, built-in RTK, O4 transmission
Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal (M3T) Matrice 4T Superior thermal sensor, laser rangefinder

DJI Matrice 4E vs Mavic 3 Enterprise — What's Better?

The Matrice 4E is a significant upgrade over the M3E in several areas:

  • IP55 weather protection — The M3E had no official IP rating. The M4E is rated IP55, meaning reliable operation in rain and dusty conditions common across Australian job sites
  • Built-in RTK — The M3E required a separate RTK module ($960). The M4E has RTK built in, saving cost and reducing setup time
  • O4 Enterprise transmission — Upgraded from O3 for improved range and video reliability
  • Mechanical shutter option — Eliminates rolling shutter distortion in high-speed mapping missions

DJI Matrice 4T vs Mavic 3 Thermal — What's Better?

The Matrice 4T takes thermal capability to the next level compared to the M3T:

  • Quad-sensor payload — Wide-angle, zoom, thermal, and laser rangefinder in one unit (M3T had wide + thermal only)
  • Superior thermal resolution — Higher resolution thermal sensor with better temperature measurement accuracy
  • 1200m laser rangefinder — Precise distance measurement the M3T lacked entirely
  • Dock 3 compatible — The M4T can be paired with the DJI Dock 3 for autonomous operations — not possible with the M3T
  • IP55 rated — All-weather reliability the M3T couldn't match
